Women from Ford Motor Company Dagenham picketing for equal value for equal work, 1984. Their protests had started over 16 years earlier. They wanted their work as upholstery machinists graded as skilled. Their first walkout was credited with kick-starting the 1970 Equal Pay Act. They still had to picket and protest in 1984 to obtain pay parity with skilled male workers. The film, ‘Made in Dagenham’, about the protest came out in 2010.
